Greg grew up in Montecito and graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1981. After receiving his BA from Harvard College, Greg entered the financial world as an analyst at Goldman Sachs. Greg spent his 21-year career on Wall Street working for Goldman Sachs, where he retired as a partner in 2007, at which time he returned to Santa Barbara with his wife and three children.

Since returning to Santa Barbara, Greg has focused his energies on supporting public education and pursuing his passion of playing and coaching tennis. He has been the boys and girls tennis coach at Santa Barbara High School since 2008, has taught an introductory finance course at SBHS, and helped establish the Foundation for Santa Barbara High School, which has raised millions of dollars for the school. Most recently, Greg successfully led the foundation’s capital campaign, which financed the Peabody Stadium renovation. Greg has also been a board member for Pacific Forest Trust, the Santa Barbara Tennis Patrons, and the Knowlwood Tennis Club.

Greg was introduced to the Bucket Brigade as they helped to clean up his home and neighborhood, which had been significantly damaged during the 2018 debris flow in Montecito. He has been a volunteer and avid supporter ever since.
