The Santa Barbara Bucket Brigade would like to present:
MOST MASK MAKING CHAMPION – APRIL 2020:
Brian Roeder
“Congratulations to all the mask makers on your hard work! You all set a fire under me and pushed me to give this challenge everything I had, doing something I thought was impossible…sewing 437 masks, in just 3 weeks, every single one made with love.
“I would like to give a HUGE thank you to the Santa Barbara Bucket Brigade for going above and beyond to coordinate this community-wide effort!”
I’m a distance runner and haven’t been running during the pandemic. I also co-operate a karaoke business, which has been shuttered for 2 months, so I had a lot of time on my hands. I funneled my marathon training, energy, endurance and competitive spirit into making masks for our community’s extraordinary essential workers.
I also want to give a special thanks to all of the local businesses and people who gave donations, which we couldn’t have done this without. Most of all, thank you to my Grandma Roeder for teaching an 8 year old little boy how to sew Cabbage Patch doll clothes!
