Free CERT training at UCSB!
October 13 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm PDT
Through CERT, citizen volunteers are trained to perform crucial emergency functions during the period immediately following a disaster. Learn how to safely serve your family, household, neighborhood, and community. CERT training includes: preparedness, fire suppression, triage and basic first aid, light search and rescue, team organization, terrorism awareness/response, disaster psychology, and disaster simulation drills.
Trainees must complete the coursework but can makeup missed classes during separate CERT trainings countywide. Please let your instructors know if you plan to attend separate trainings to complete your certificate.
This basic CERT course runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on three Sundays — October 13 and 20, and November 3. All classes will be taught at UCSB Environmental Health & Safety Building 565. All three days must be attended, but please ask about make-up dates if you’re unable to attend all the classes. To register, contact UCSB Emergency Manager Jim Caesar at 805.450.1437 or James.Caesar@ehs.ucsb.edu
All CERT trainings are multi-day commitments. Please contact the Organizer or refer to the events calendar for the full schedule.
